On Friday, April 14th, at approximately 11:30 AM, the Glenham Fire Department was dispatched for a large column of smoke in a wooded area off of Washington Avenue. The smoke could be seen from miles away. Upon investigation, a large brush fire was located on property owned by Chevron, formerly known as the Texaco Research Center. Due to the location of the fire, getting resources to the area was a challenge, but our efforts prevailed. Firefighters quickly worked to dig a fire line and extinguish the rapidly spreading fire and associated hot spots. The fire was extinguished after four hours and all fire units returned to service just after 4:00 PM.

The Glenham Fire Department could not have done this alone and we were assisted on the scene by Rombout Fire Department, Chelsea Fire Department, Dutchess Junction Fire Department, North Highlands Fire Department, Cold Spring Fire Department, City of Beacon Fire Department, East Fishkill Fire Department, Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response (Deputy Fire Coordinator VanBuren), Beacon Volunteer Ambulance, Peekskill Volunteer Ambulance (Rehab Unit), NYS Park Rangers, Town of Fishkill Police and City of Beacon Police. Standby coverage was provided by East Clinton Fire Department and Pleasant Valley Fire Department.
