On Saturday August 2nd at 10:24am, the Glenham Fire Department was dispatched for a priority-1 rollover auto accident in the area of the I-84 overpass on Red Schoolhouse road. The initial report stated a vehicle that went off of I-84 and down onto red schoolhouse. While en route, to the scene Dutchess County 911 dispatchers updated 43-12 and 43-61 that there was confirmed entrapment.
Upon arrival of 43-12, Past Chief David Dross assumed command and firefighters went to work to extricate the victim from the vehicle. Within less than seven minutes after arrival the patient was extricated from the vehicle and in the care of our EMS partners. Extrication was accomplished using the Jaws of Life (Hurst Tool). A portion of red schoolhouse road was shutdown during the duration of the incident to ensure the safety of all first responders on scene. Glenham was back in service at 11:46am and subsequently reopened the road. Glenham FD was assisted on scene by BVAC, City of Beacon Medic 1, Town of Fishkill PD, New York State Police, and NTC Autobody.
I was the operator of the truck that rolled over and flipped on I-84 and School House road at 10:24 AM on 8/11/2025 that you responded to. I can’t thank you enough for your efforts to get me out of the truck and get me to MidHudson Hospital in Poughkeepsie. I spent 3 weeks in the hospital and 3 weeks in Gurwin Rehab in Commack on Long Island. I was very fortunate after falling asleep at the wheel to come away with only 5 cracked ribs, a broken collarbone and a chipped elbow. My PT/OT was great . I’m home now in Bay Shore Long Island finishing my recovery. Please thank also the State Police and Fishkill and the ambulance crew that transported me to the hospital!! It was a great effort by everyone involved.
