| Today, October 28th, we proudly recognize the dedicated men and women who answer the call when our communities need them most. From firefighters and EMTs to paramedics, police officers, dispatchers, and all emergency personnel, we thank you for your courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to protecting others. 🚒 A SPECIAL SALUTE TO OUR VOLUNTEER FIRST RESPONDERS! 🚒 Here at the Glenham Fire Department, we take tremendous pride in the men and women who volunteer their time to protect our community. They are your neighbors, friends, coworkers, and family members. They work full-time jobs, raise families, and manage the same everyday responsibilities as everyone else. Yet, when the alarm sounds, they put their own lives on hold to help someone else. They answer calls at 2:00 in the morning, leave family dinners, miss holidays, and sacrifice countless hours for training, preparation, and emergency response. They don't do it for the money. They do it because someone has to be there when help is needed. And today, we need to talk about something equally important. 🚨 VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTING IS AT A CROSSROADS — AND OUR COMMUNITY NEEDS TO STEP UP! 🚨 Across New York State and throughout our nation, volunteer fire departments are struggling to maintain the membership necessary to protect their communities. Glenham is not immune to these challenges. The simple truth is that fire trucks don't respond to emergencies on their own. It takes people. Dedicated, trained, committed PEOPLE. When your home is on fire, when a loved one is experiencing a medical emergency, or when a serious accident happens on our roads, you expect someone to answer that call. But who will answer tomorrow if we don't recruit volunteers today? We cannot continue to depend on the same dedicated individuals year after year without encouraging new members of our community to join them. 🚒 GLENHAM NEEDS YOU. NOT SOMEBODY ELSE. YOU! You don't need to be a firefighter already. You don't need previous emergency services experience. You don't have to be fearless or know everything about the fire service. You simply need to care enough about your community to take that first step. We provide training, guidance, and the opportunity to become part of something bigger than yourself. Whether you're looking to serve as a firefighter or contribute in another capacity, we encourage you to explore the opportunities available. Think about this: If everyone assumes someone else will volunteer, eventually there may be nobody left to answer the call. Our department has proudly served Glenham for generations, but that tradition of service cannot continue without the next generation stepping forward. We are not asking everyone to become a firefighter. We are asking more people to seriously consider becoming one. 🚨 TODAY IS THE DAY TO GET INVOLVED! 🚨 Don't just think about volunteering. Take the first step toward making a real difference in your community! 📝 READY TO JOIN? APPLY TODAY! Download our Slater Chemical Fire Company Membership Application directly here: 🌐 LEARN MORE ABOUT OUR DEPARTMENT: You can also contact us directly at info@glenhamfire.com or stop by the firehouse to learn more about becoming part of our team. Don't just thank a volunteer firefighter today. Consider standing beside one tomorrow. To our Glenham volunteers, neighboring departments, and every first responder, volunteer or career, THANK YOU for the sacrifices you make and the lives you touch. ❤️💙🤍 Not all heroes receive a paycheck. Some simply answer the call.
