| The officers and members of Slater Chemical Fire Company, the Glenham Fire Department, and the Board of Fire Commissioners of the Glenham Fire District are saddened to announce the passing of our longtime honorary member, Glenn R. Scofield, Sr., who passed away peacefully on August 1, 2026, at the age of 84. A lifelong resident of Fishkill, Glenn dedicated more than six decades of his life to public service. He served with the Town of Fishkill Highway Department for 62 years, including 54 years as Highway Superintendent, before retiring in 2023. He also served as a Dutchess County Deputy Sheriff, a Sergeant with the Village of Fishkill Police Department, and Chief of Protection Engine Co. #1 of the Fishkill Fire Department. Glenn’s extraordinary commitment to the fire service earned him the respect and admiration of firefighters throughout the region. In addition to his longtime honorary membership with Slater Chemical Fire Company, he held honorary memberships with Rombout, Dutchess Junction, Wiccopee, and Thomaston, Connecticut fire companies. Calling hours will be held Friday, August 7, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, followed by a Firematic Service at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, August 8, at 10:00 AM at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, followed by interment at Fishkill Rural Cemetery. All of us here join Glenn’s family, friends, fellow firefighters, and the greater Fishkill community in honoring his memory and his lifetime of friendship, leadership, and dedicated service.
